I am a qualified hypnobirth practitioner, registered midwife, reflexologist and baby massage instructor.
I started my career as a nurse before becoming a midwife 27 years ago. My experience as a midwife is vast having worked in many leading London hospitals and birth centres. I have also worked as a midwife abroad and as a midwifery lecturer.
For many years I worked at the Edgware Birth Centre, which is a standalone unit run solely by midwives and midwifery assistants. This was a fantastic experience and led me to set up a Midwifery Led Unit in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, Southern Ireland. It was during this time that I realised how powerful the mind-body connection is in relation to pregnancy and birth. The more prepared women are the better their birth experience appears to be. I want all women to have a positive birth experience and hypnobirthing has convinced me that the mind can have a positive effect on labour and birth. The results are remarkable and I have seen women empowered to have the best birth possible.I became a reflexologist because I believe in a holistic approach to health and find it very useful in regard to infertility and induction of labour. I teach baby massage for the very positive impact it has on baby’s health and the family as a whole. I hope to provide a seamless package of care to families where they can meet other couples and develop future friendships.
Due to the increased birth rate and the constraints on midwifery services today I have decided to add active birth workshops and tailor made classes in the hope of empowering women to give birth with more confidence and also to provide home visiting.
